India’s Strong Economy Continues to Lead Global Growth is the headline on an August 2018 report from the International Monetary Fund. The report goes on: India’s economy is gaining momentum, thanks to the implementation of several recent noteworthy policies – such as the enactment of the long-awaited goods and services tax, and the country opening up more to foreign investors. Therefore, we expect economic growth to pick up to about 7.3 percent for fiscal year 2018/19 – meaning the year that runs from April of 2018 through March 2019 – from 6.7 percent in the year prior… Doing business in India offers immense business opportunities for U.S.-based companies. Over the past few years, the Indian government has liberalized the FDI norms, making India one of the most open economies in the world. The government has also implemented a number of measures to improve the ease of doing business in India by simplifying and digitizing the existing legal regimes. Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience, Rohit Kapur will share updates on key regulations and government initiatives, as he discusses: Doing Business with Indians; FDI in India; Policy Initiatives (including Make in India; Digital India; Startup India; Smart Cities); Key Regulatory Reforms; India-U.S. Business Scenarios. A Chartered Accountant by education, Rohit has through his career worked in multinational engineering companies in various capacities and positions of responsibility. He possesses diverse and rich experiences in starting up and managing companies. He has also acquired experience in restructuring and turning around companies to align them with changing and evolving economic and market conditions.
